Councillor Pam Varnsverry has been asking for an open meeting to discuss access arrangements in Ross Road. Pam sought to involve local residents, local businesses, the Saints, local Police and the County Council yet when a meeting was called (by the Conservative County Councillor for St James) it was held ‘behind closed doors’, and Councillor Varnsverry was not even invited!

Not only was Councillor Pam Varnsverry excluded but one local resident who had vital information to offer had been told the wrong start time.

Councillor Varnsverry says ‘Despite a legal agreement being in place covering the operation of the barrier, businesses in Ross Road submitted a petition to the County Council for it’s removal. The County Council officer is now minded to adhere to the original undertaking which means the barrier should be opened up to allow Saints fans to egress at the end of the game.’

She goes on to say ‘Given my misgivings about the way in which the meeting was conducted I will be demanding a further public meeting takes place’.
